The exhibition shows the aspects of today’s, mostly Budapest-based skateboarding culture, from magazine editing through making a skateboard and decorating it, to self-organised skateboard groups. The visitors can get a glimpse into a subculture which defines the life of youth and their aesthetic environment. The session also offers an opportunity to initiate a conversation between different generations.
My own skate board
Age: 7-18 years old
Time it takes: : 1 hour
The children and youth can learn the possibilities of self-expression of the skater subculture through a number of interfaces and different forms in the exhibition. The skateboard is not only a vehicle, but also an interface on which the design and the symbols tell the story of its owner. During the session, the children can design their own “skate board” made out of cardboard.
The activity, which aims to improve skills in color and spatial vision as well as storytelling, takes place on a new, alternative surface. The fixed frames of size and function allow for a greater focus on the prepared works.
